The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Sindh, has said that there is no danger of flood in the province. In a statement issued here on Sunday, it said that water level at Guddu and Sukkur barrages is receding constantly whereas it is increasing rapidly at Kotri Barrage.
Those residing in the 'katcha' areas have been advised to remain alert and shift to safer places, the statement added. The Director General of PDMA, Syed Salman Shah, said that there is no danger of any flood so far. However, the residents of the 'katcha' areas of Kotri, Thatta and Sujawal should immediately shift to safer places and that the administration would extend every assistance to them.
Salman Shah said that from the 'katcha' areas of Indus so far 850,311 people have shifted. Of these 245,370 have been accommodated in 488 camps set up by the administration where they are being provided the required facilities.
