Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Right to Information Commission (KP-RTIC) has instructed the Directorate of Sports and youth Affairs to expedite work on creating the official website and ensure proactive disclosure of information vital for transparency and accountability. It was decided in the meeting held at the RTI Commission office here on Wednesday that the Khyber Pakhttunkhwa Sports Directorate will ensure proactive disclosure of information in spirit of the RTI Act 2013.
The participants of the meeting included Director Sports Tariq Mehmood, Chief Information Commissioner Sahibzada Muhammad Khalid, Commissioner Abdul Matin and Professor Kalim Ullah. "It is people right to know the activities of sports directorate. They must know how much money have been allocated in the budget for the development of sports related activities, in which districts and how efficiently these funds has been utilised," Khalid while instructing the sports director to activate the official sports directorate website at the earliest.
He added that all public bodies must ensure proactive disclosure of information which will not only ensure transparency but will also lessen burden on Public Information Officers (PIOs) who are assigned to address the applicants seeking information from public body.
While briefing the KPK Sports Director RTI Commissioner Kalim Ullah regarding the important information which should be uploaded to the website said that the RTI Act 2013, requires that all public bodies and institutions receiving funds from provincial exchequer must proactively disclose information regarding their budget allocation, spending, Rules of Business and other vital activities whose proactive disclosure is important for transparency.
