Greek police break drugs, prostitution racket on Mykonos

24 Aug, 2015

Police in Greece on Sunday said they had arrested a criminal group who trafficked drugs and women on the island of Mykonos, one of the country's most popular tourist islands. A police statement said the gang, composed of three Greeks in their thirties, targeted mainly wealthy clients.
While legally operating as tourist operators handling hotel, yacht and club bookings, the gang also sold their clients drugs including cocaine, cannabis and ecstasy, the police said.
One of the suspects is a former coastguard while another had been arrested for bank robbery in 2011, and now also plied clients with prostitutes.
Mykonos is known world-wide for its wild party atmosphere that attracts revellers from around the world, in addition to celebrity actors, models and sports stars.
