Pakistan Muslim League (N) may prefer by-election over challenging election tribunal decisions regarding NA-122 and NA-154 in the Supreme Court, media reports reveal. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has reportedly held a meeting with senior party leaders Wednesday to discuss the situation in the wake of election tribunal decisions in NA-154 Lodhran. The party said to have decided to go for by-election and reportedly conveyed the decision to the workers.
The election tribunals on petitions filed by runner up candidates of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaaf against the winners in all the three constituencies have annulled elections. Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique was the first who had lost his seat after the tribunal annulled election of NA-125; however, he was granted stay order by the Supreme Court. Ayaz Sadiq lost his seat and speakership after election tribunal annulled election of NA-122 last week and now NA-154 election has been declared invalid by the tribunal.
