Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Thursday referred the matter of irregularities in different projects carried out under Barani Area Development Project to a sub-committee for conducting comprehensive investigations. The meeting of the PAC KP held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, Abbottabad with MPA Shaukat Ali Yousafzai in the chair. MPAs Arbab Akbar Hayat Khan, Mufti Said Janan and Qurban Ali attended the meeting.
The meeting besides Director General (DG) Audit, Shah Rehman, DG Javed Iqbal, Additional Secretaries, Amjad Ali, Israr Mohammad, Pervez Khan, Deputy Secretary Assembly, Inamullah Khan, Assistant Secretary Haris Khan was also attended by authorities concerned of the P&D and C&W Departments. The PAC KP held a detailed debate on different audit paras of the Audit Report 2012-13 irregularities regarding Planning & Development (P&D) Department in the year 2009-10 and took several crucial decisions.
The committee referred the matter of investigation into the spending of Rs 32.260 million on a road between Abbottabad and Haripur to a sub-committee and directed the panel for inspection and presentation of report before the committee. The committee was informed that the survey conducted by the consultant as well as design of the project was of poor quality, which resulted in the declaring of the consultant as blacklisted and question and leaving of the consultant free so easily.
