Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Gilgit-Baltistan, Captain Zafar Iqbal Awan (Retd) has said that the main objective to establish 'High Altitude Force' (HAF) is to provide fool proof security and sense of protection to the both local and foreign tourists.
While addressing at the passing our ceremony of 2nd batch of High Altitude Training School (HATS) located in Rattu valley of Astor district on Friday, the IGP said that the force is crucial in context of regional, national and international security challenges.
He said the provincial police (GB police) department has provided necessary equipments/gadgets as per its financial capacity. These equipments are insufficient to cater the requirements of the force and a lot more is needed in this regard, he added. He also appraised the efforts of Pakistan Army, particularly Commander FCNA, Major General Asim Munir for the establishment of the HAF in the resource-constrained GB.-PR
