A rally was taken out by the Pakistan Awami Tehreek from its Model Town secretariat to the Martyrs mausoleum in Batapur, where a floral wreath was laid on the graves of the 1965 war martyrs on behalf of Dr Tahirul Qadri, the chairman of PAT on Sunday.
The PAT rally was led by secretary general Khurram Nawaz Gandapur and Major Mohammed Saeed (retd). Addressing the rally the leaders said that our martyrs are the best example of courage, bravery and patriotism and the country owes its existence to them. They said this Day we must pay homage and respect to our martyrs. They said that our martyrs have taught us to stand up against the enemy with unity, no matter how big or strong he may be. They said the nation stood like a solid rock wall against the enemy in 1965 and will again stand boldly if the need comes in the future.
A floral wreath was laid on the grave of martyr Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed and Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed. Similar wreaths were laid on the graves of martyrs in eight different cities where the martyrs of the nation lay in rest. Special prayers were also held for the martyrs of 1965 war.
