'Chinese corner' inaugurated at SU

The Area Study Centre (ASC) of Sindh University (SU) on Wednesday inked two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with a local & a foreign institution for research in the fields of social sciences. It also inaugurated Chinese corner in a bid to promote Chinese language in the province.
According to University's spokesman, the MoUs signing ceremony was held at varsity's Area Study Centre where SU Vice Chancellor Dr Abida Taherani & her Zhejiang Normal University China counterpart Dr Lou Shizhou put their signatures on the agreement. The Director of ASC Dr Hamadullah Kakepoto was also present on the occasion. Both the organizations agreed to develop collaborative research projects & hold academic workshops as well as conferences. Under agreement, both the universities would develop joint educational programs & short-term seminars as well as symposiums in the specific field. They will also exchange academic information, educational & research materials, publications and carry out exchanges of faculty members, scholars and managers.
The 2nd memorandum was signed by VC Professor Dr Abida Taherani & Executive Director of Pakistan Council on China (PCC), Islamabad Dr Fazal-ur-Rahman in the same ceremony. The two organizations would develop academic cooperation in various fields, provision of joint consulting & research services for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
They also agreed to cooperate for mutual benefits and collaboration in order to achieve synergy in their activities. Director ASC Dr Hamadullah Kakepoto told that the purpose of the cooperation between the PCC and the ASC was to improve the scientific and academic level of the two institutes, promote and intensify the friendship and the mutual understanding between the researchers & academic staff in general and the two institutions in particular.
