Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Health, Shahram Khan Tarakai has said that Independent Monitoring Unit (IMU), established at Health department is yielding very encouraging results. He was chairing a meeting regarding health sector reforms in Islamabad the other day. Besides secretary health Mushtaq Jadoon, Director General health Services, Dr Pervez Kamal, Project Director IMU Dr Akhtar Saeed and other relevant officials of health department, the meeting was also attended by the representatives of the DFID.
The meeting took stock of the overall performance and progress of the IMU made so far. The PD IMU, Dr Akhtar Saeeed presented the data about the BHUs and RHCs collected by IMU.
The minister further stated that the IMU overall performance is so far satisfactory, adding that with vigilant monitoring by IMU, the attendance ratio of staff in health service delivery outlets of the province specially the Rural Health Centres (RHCs) and Basic Health Units (BHUs) has increased to a satisfactory level and resultantly the overall service delivery in these health outlets has improved considerably.
He lauded the efforts of the IMU staff for collecting real data about these health service outlets in a very short span of time and said that these data will provide a base for strengthening the basic health units in terms of staff and facilities and in the light of these data the provincial government will take measures in this regard. He stressed upon the IMU authorities to work with utmost dedication in order to achieve cent percent result of the program and further strengthen the monitoring mechanism to ensure hundred percent attendance of staff in these basic health units.
