The Lahore High Court on Monday granted bail to three men allegedly involved in demanding extortion from the local merchants of Akbari Market after two witnesses of the case turned hostile. Three accused Salman Irshad, Zeeshan Irshad and Arslan stated that local police had lodged fake FIR against them, because they had never been involved in such heinous crime of demanding extortion from the traders.
The prosecution however opposed their bail petition saying that the accused persons demanded extortion from Imran Butt, the complainant and also did aerial firing. The prosecution further said that Habib-ur-Rehman and Aslam were the witnesses of the case but they had turned hostile and refused to identify the accused persons. The court after hearing both sides accepted the bail of the accused.
