Although Samsung’s Unpack event was all about the newly introduced Samsung Galaxy Note 9, the tech giant also launched few other things including its smart speaker and smartwatch.
Galaxy Note 9 sure did get the limelight and stole the show, but few other things were also big news for the company, Samsung Galaxy Home, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Bixby 2.0, and Spotify integration to Galaxy devices.
Samsung has now officially joined the race of smart speakers by the introduction of Galaxy Home, competing directly with Amazon Echo, Google Home and Apple’s HomePod. The Bixby-powered speaker contains eight far-field microphones to pick up voice commands from across the room, six built-in speakers, and a subwoofer.
Samsung’s most powerful Galaxy Note 9 arrives with ‘reasonable price’
The speaker has a large body with three metal legs to help it stand. On top of the speaker are button from controlling playback and volume. Similar to other smart speakers, smart home devices can be controlled via Bixby. The company didn’t reveal further details regarding price or release date, saying that more information will be revealed in November, describes Mashable.
Next is Samsung’s Galaxy Watch, the smartwatch that will offer LTE connectivity, high-resolution AMOLED touch display, Gorilla DX+ glass, and is water-resistant for swimming. As per the company, the device can be used for days without the need to charge.
The watch features fitness features including sudden heightened heart diseases, auto-detecting exercises and tracking sleep. The Galaxy Watch will come in three colors and two sizes, a 42mm and 46mm face that will be sold for $330 and $350, respectively, wrote The Verge.
Moreover, Samsung also partnered with popular music streaming app Spotify for users to link their accounts to Bixby and make it the default music player when user ask smart speaker to play a song. This can also be used on non-smartphone products like Samsung’s smart TV. Even if the user doesn’t have a Spotify account, they’ll be able to stream music from the service.
