Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati) President Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui has urged the government to resolve textile industry's issues on priority basis. He said that despite contributing around 50 percent to total exports of the country, the policy makers were not paying due attention to textile sector. He said it was a matter of concern that last year the country's exports dropped 16 percent, while the textile exports declined by 12 percent.
Ahmed said that high cost of manufacturing, energy crises, high utility rates, and policy flaws had created an uneasy environment for the industry. He demanded of the government to start consultations with the business community to resolve their issues on priority basis.
