Pakistan Railways distributed compensation cheques among the heirs of the victims of July 2, 2015 train accident on Gujranwala-Faisalabad section. The incident was occurred on Bridge No 278, near Jameke Chattha station with Special Military Train (118) downing in which seventeen persons were died. Divisional Superintendent (DS) Pakistan Railways (PR) Peshawar Division, Ali Mohammad Afridi distributed the cheques among the heirs of the victims of the accident.
While speaking on the occasion, Afridi said the administration of Pakistan Railways is not only grieved over the accidental deaths of their dear family members, rather also making all-out efforts for extending all possible assistance to them. He said that inquiry into the accident has been conducted by military engineers and those held responsible have been punished either through suspensions or termination of their services.
Afridi further said that though life has no substitute, but Pakistan Railways has still arranged a token amount as financial assistance for the injured and heirs of those died in the incident. He requested the affected families of the accident to accept these cheques as sincerity of Pakistan Railways and not as compensation.
