Shahbaz reviews progress on Knowledge Park project

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting in which progress on the project of Knowledge Park was reviewed in detail. A foreign consultant gave a detailed briefing about the initial features of the Knowledge Park Project. The Chief Minister announced to allocate Rs 21 billion for the revolutionary project of Knowledge Park during next three years. He said that Punjab government will provide Rs 7 billion every year for implementation of this project from its own resources.
He said that a plan has been evolved for setting up Knowledge Park of international standard in Lahore and this project will play an important role in the promotion of science, information technology, high standard education and other modern knowledge.
Shahbaz directed that all necessary matters relating to this project should be finalized speedily and the work of the design of the project should be completed at the earliest. He said that admission in the universities to be established under this project will be provided only on merit.
He said that the talented youth of poor families will be given admission on priority basis. He said that this project is of paramount importance for the promotion of high quality education in Pakistan. The Chief Minister said that Knowledge Park Project will become a source of promotion of education in the real sense and this important project of research and education will be completed speedily.
The meeting discussed in detail various proposals relating to this project. Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed, Chairman Punjab Text Book Board, Vice Chancellors, educationists, Chairman Planning & Development and concerned officers attended the meeting.
