Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police on Monday claimed to have arrested fours suspects involved in murder of senior journalist Aftab Alam. According to SP Amir Farooqi, the accused were associated with a banned sectarian outfit and were also involved in five other cases of target killings on sectarian grounds. They were also planning to carryout attacks on media persons. A 9 mm pistol and other weapons were also recovered from them. They were allegedly trained in a neighbouring country and were receiving funds.
They suspects were identified as Zeeshan Hyder Zaidi, Sulaiman, Shah Gee, and Adeel. They were moved to an undisclosed location for further interrogations. It may be recalled here that journalist Aftab Alam was targeted outside his residence in 11-C area of North Karachi while he was leaving to pick up his children from school on September 9.
