Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Punjab organiser Chaudhary Mohammad Sarwar has demanded a commission comprising of Supreme Court judges should be constituted to probe into the allegations of corruption charges in the import of Liquefied Natural Gas. Chaudhary Sarwar was addressing a public meeting at MPA Aslam Iqbal's political office in Samanabad on Monday. Deputy organiser Umer Sarfraz Cheema, Abdul Aleem Khan, Shoaib Siddiqui and others were present on the occasion.
He also demanded that a parliamentary committee be constituted to appoint the heads of the national institutions on merit. He alleged that rulers were planning to make government servants as scapegoat to get clean chit for themselves in the corruption in energy projects. He demanded that army should be deployed inside and outside the polling station to hold by elections in transparent manner. He said the rulers were planning to make a biggest robbery on national exchequer in the LNG project and added that the Insaf would foil their attempt. "In order to make the LNG project transparent, the constitution of a Supreme Court Commission is the need of the hour."
He said incumbent rulers were just making tall claims about the appointment of heads of national institutes on merit but the fact is that there are many national institutions without regular heads. He said the appointment of national institutions' heads should be made on merit in a bid to end corruption. He, however, said there was a bleak hope that the rulers would make the appointments on merit.
He said the ruling party was seeing "its defeat in the by-elections quite clearly and that was why they were harassing party workers, but the Insaf would disallow it to use any unfair means. MPA Mian Aslam Iqbal said the PTI would also protest in Punjab Assembly against PML-N's coercion and rigging plans. He said the PTI would not let PML-N to steal people's true mandate. As the PTI has defeated PML-N in the court of law, he said, the PML-N would also be defeated in the court of people on October 11. Abdul Aleem Khan said the people in the constituency should vote for them and he and his party would never disappoint them.
