KP Police to adopt offensive strategy against militants

A Regional Police Officers (RPOs) meeting chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police, Nasir Khan Durrani was held at the conference room, Central Police Office, here on Monday. The meeting convened in the wake of militants' attack on the PAF base Badahber discussed the prevailing security situation and decided to beef up the security of all sensitive installations. It was also decided to adopt an offensive strategy against militants and extremists.
The IGP stressed upon joint search and strike operations to purge the settled areas from any militant sleeper cells and their facilitators-cum-sympathisers. It was also decided that the police checking on the arteries connecting FATA and tribal areas to the settled areas would be enhanced. The IGP also directed the establishment of a security desk which would exclusively deal with the security of sensitive and vulnerable installations.
The chair also directed the RPOs and DPOs to form Village Liaison Committees and Neighbourhood Liaison committees and utilise their services for elimination of social evils, information & surveillance of new tenants and monitoring the use of loud-speaker for dissemination of hate speeches. The security arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha and Moharram-ul-Haram were also discussed. The IGP directed to deploy additional police strength for the security of educational institutions, bazaars, cattle markets, Eid congregations and minority worship places. The IGP emphasised that all efforts should be made to ensure foolproof security on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha and Muharram-ul-Haram.
