Hairdryer worst treatment for dunked mobile: experts

28 Sep, 2015

When a smartphone gets dunked in water, the last thing to reach for is a hair dryer, say German experts, because a dryer can actually push the moisture further into the device's interior. The best thing to do is to get the phone out of the water and turn it off immediately, reports German website handysektor.de.
Should the phone be recharging at the time of the dousing, the room's electrical power should be disconnected at the fuse box before attempting to fish out the phone. Once that's done, owners should open the phone case and take out the battery, SIM card and SD card. One can lay them all on a dry cloth and daub off whatever water is on the surfaces. Next, one should leave the phone in a bag of uncooked rice for one or two days.
The rice will absorb any water, and with luck, the phone will work again.
