Vietnam president visits Cuba

Vietnam's president has begun a two-day visit to Cuba aimed at boosting political and economic ties, the official newspaper Granma reported Tuesday. Communist-ruled Vietnam is a model for the economic reforms that President Raul Castro is carrying out to overhaul the outdated Soviet-style system that was in force for decades. After China, Vietnam is Cuba's biggest trading partner in Asia. Trade last year totalled $269 million, according to Cuban government figures.
