Anti-corruption team raids CHK, seizes drug purchase record

An Anti-Corruption team on Friday raided Civil Hospital Karachi's (CHK) administration block and seized five-year record of medicines purchase. Source at CHK informed that Anti- Corruption team conducted a raid in the hospital and seized the five years' record of medicines purchase. The team was headed by Deputy Director Tariq Qureshi and Judicial Magistrate Syed Nadeem Jafferi.
The 12-member team locked the administration block for several hours and stopped the staff and other people from going in and out of the block. The team members investigated the purchase of medicines and alleged embezzlement in purchasing of drugs in last five years for the hospital. The high-ups of hospital and staff posted in Pharmacy Department fled from the office following the news of raid at hospital by the anti-corruption team.
It was pertinent to mention there that Medical Superintendent Civil Hospital Karachi Professor Saeed Ahmed Qureshi was on leave and is currently on the visit to a foreign country. Deputy Director Anti-Corruption Department, Tariq Qureshi, said that the team conducted raid in pharmacy department of Civil Hospital Karachi, following information of mismanagement and irregularities. He said the raid was conducted on the information gathered through various sources.
