Jordan's state grain buyer has issued new international tenders to buy 100,000 tonnes of hard milling wheat and 100,000 tonnes of animal feed barley, both to be sourced from optional origins, European traders said on Thursday. Tender deadline for the wheat tender is October 13 and deadline for the barley tender is October 14, they said.
The wheat was sought in a series of possible shipment combinations in 50,000 tonne consignments in 2016 between February 2 and March 15, they said. The barley was sought for shipment in two 50,000 tonne consignments in the first or second half of March 2016, they said. In its last wheat tender on September 15, Jordan purchased 100,000 tonnes of optional-origin hard wheat.
Jordan made no purchases in five previous tenders for 100,000 tonnes of wheat in September and August, with traders citing limited selling interest among international trading houses due to concerns about inspection and payment conditions. Jordan also has an unusual tender to sell 50,000 tonnes of hard wheat closing on October 4 which involves a consignment rejected by the country's quality controls.
