Spot basis bids for corn and soyabeans held steady at most elevators and processors around the US Midwest on Thursday but the cash market had a weak tone in areas west of the Mississippi River. Dry weather in the West allowed farmers to speed up their pace of harvest of both crops and deliver more corn and soyabeans they had contracted to sell months ago to terminals. Country movement was slower in eastern areas, providing support to basis levels at processors and elevators in places like Ohio and Indiana.
