Special courts for women demanded

Women Action Forum (WAF) has demanded the Sindh government to set up special courts to deliver immediate justice to women, who are being killed in name of honour or married against their free will. The WAF made this demand during a rally taken out from Shahbaz Building, here on Sunday. Addressing the rally, Amar Sindhu, Arfana Mallah and others said that the innocent women were being killed in the name of honour and forced to marry against their free will.
"Such incidents are on the rise in Sindh as there is a weak governance system in the province and feudal system supports this victimisation against women," they observed.
They lamented that elected representatives, police officials and other local influential persons hold Jirgas to settle disputes including Karo-Kari, which is totally illegal and unconstitutional.
They demanded the government to establish special court to deal with such cases, which should be decided within three months, adding that it is only way to deliver justice to victims.
Punhal Sario, Mustafa Baloch, Suleman Abro, Haseen Musrat were also among the participants of the rally.
