LSE index loses 2.42 points

Although equities swung on Tuesday, they did finally close in minus column at the Lahore Stock Exchange amid a descending transaction volume. The LSE-25 index lost 02.42 points to close at 5702.86 against 5705.28 of Monday, while the transaction volume declined to 915,900 shares compared with the previous volume of 1.446 million. Players shunned fresh buying that led to a spiraling market.
The MCB Bank Limited, Systems Limited, Maple Leaf Cement Factory, Pace Pakistan Limited, the Bank of Punjab Limited, Lotte Chemical Pakistan Limited, IGI Investment Bank Limited and Silk Bank Limited gained. The UBL, Pak Elektron Limited, Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited, SNGPL, Dewan Farooq Motors Limited, Fauji Cement Company Limited, Dewan Cement Limited, Askari Bank Limited and NIB Bank Limited suffered losses and closed in minus column.
Gainers and losers remained equal since of 78 firms, nine showed strength and closed in green zone, nine suffered losses while 60 remained stagnant at their previous levels. Among the gainers, the MCB Bank Limited gained Rs 3.80 and the Systems Limited improved by Rs 2.85, Maple Leaf Cement Factory was appreciated by 80 paisas, while Pace Pakistan Limited, the Bank of Punjab Limited, Lotte Chemical Pakistan Limited, IGI Investment Bank Limited and SilkBank Limited were up by 80 paisas, 20, 14, 3 and 2, respectively. The UBL shed 88 paisas, Pak Elektron Limited declined by 70 paisas, Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited lost 60 paisas while SNGPL, Dewan Farooq Motors Limited, Fauji Cement Company Limited, Dewan Cement Limited, Askari Bank Limited and NIB Bank Limited declined by 50 paisas, 20, 15, 5, 5 and 3, respectively. The volume leaders of the day were the Pace Pakistan Limited with 500,000 shares, the Bank of Punjab Limited with 235,000 and the Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited with 68,000.
