Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC), a platform of religious parties to promote harmony, resolved to maintain peace and harmony during the month of Muharram-ul-Harram. The MYC organised a meeting on Monday at Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi headquarters to sort out ways to ensure peace and harmony during the month. Religious leaders, belonging to all sects, discussed the sectarian harmony and urged the government to move the apex courts for revision on some of the recent rulings that are directly associated with religious sentiments and peace in the society.
Addressing the meeting, MYC Head Sahabzada Abulkhair called for sectarian harmony and unity among various sects. He was of the view that banning religious clerics and programmes to mark the holy month of Muharram would impose negative impacts on efforts for maintaining peace during the month. Asadullah Bhutto said that some miscreants used to spread hatred and terrorism in Muharram. JI leader Engr Hafiz Naeem has said that peace is the need of all of us. Allama Nazir Abbas Naqvi said that the message of Muharram is peace, love and harmony.-PR
