Sindh High Court has dismissed a petition of Amir-ul-Ebad Khan and his wife Dr Shehla Amir against Muttahida Qaumi Movement's leader Abdul Rauf Siddiqui. Amir is a brother of Sindh governor. The petition was heard by a double bench of the SHC comprising Justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh and Justice S.M. Farooque Shah on Thursday. The higher court having heard the petitioners rejected their allegations against Siddiqui for giving life threats and demanding money in extortion.
On higher court's directives, the Assistant Advocate General of Sindh has also assured the higher court through a written statement that neither Siddiqui would be intimidated nor any unlawful action from any law-enforcing agency would be taken against him. The petitioners had claimed that Siddiqui had threatened them of dire consequences over demanding outstanding dues for installing solar-powered system at the Nazeer Hussain University. However, the university's vice chancellor had approached eminent lawyer Barrister Dr Farogh Naseem to file a case of defamation against Amir and his wife. Siddiqui had also clarified his position, terming the allegations `planned' and `bogus'.
