Security for Muharram processions in KP reviewed

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information and Higher Education, Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani on Friday visited different mourning processions taken out in connections with 9th Muharram ul Haram and reviewed security of traditional routes. He was accompanied by Advisor to CM Arif Yousaf Advocate and Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Mubarak Zeb.
Mushtaq Ghani who is also the official spokesman of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government reviewed the central procession taken out from the Imambargh Husseinia Hall, Peshawar Cantonment and expressed satisfaction over security arrangements. While talking to media, he said that tight security measures have been adopted for Muharram across the province where about 7000 police personnel have been deployed for the security of Majalis and processions.
Besides, police personnel, he said Frontier Constabulary and Pakistan Army have also been put on standby to prevent any unpleasant incident or emergency situation while emergency has also been proclaimed in all hospitals and all staff had been directed to remain present on their duty.
He said that the teams of Health department, ambulances and workers of Rescue 1122 are also accompanying the mourning processions. Security agencies were performing their duties in connections with the maintenance of peace in Muharram-ul-Harram in a very better manner, he added. He said KP government is taking all possible steps to guarantee law and order in the province.
