Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief, Senator Siraj-ul-Haq has called for taking immediate and effective steps for repatriation of TDPs to their houses before the fall of the winter season and to save them from the miserable life of camps. He was addressing a donor conference under the auspices of JI Mardan in Mardan Club on Sunday. Naib Ameer, Mian Mohammad Aslam, general secretary JI KP Shabir Ahmad Khan and Ameer JI, District Mardan, Dr Atta-ur-Rehman was also present on the occasion.
The JI chief termed the repatriation of TDPs to their respective areas essential for restoration of durable peace, saying that the prolonging of the period of displacement will generate new socio-economic problems.
He said that common man across the country either it is in Balochistan or in FATA are facing problems and seeking justice. He said that they are for the establishment of Islamic judicial system, adding that either FATA should be declared a new separate province or merge with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as people having the same nationality are the victim of class-based laws in the country.
He said that due to this injustice, tribesmen are feeling the sense of deprivation and they wanted guaranteeing equal rights to all citizens. For this purpose, he said JI has convened a Jirga of political leadership in Islamabad on November 2, 2015 to hold consultations and present proposals in this regard.
To a question, he said that he is in favour of the alliance of religious-political parties. However, at this juncture the timing of the question is not suitable and presently there is a need that political leadership should sit together and evolve a durable line of action for the resolution of the problems of common man. Electoral politics, he said has own timing, saying politics is the name of conscious.
The JI chief said that they had always supported the government for peace and development and awaiting the initiatives of the government for the resolution of the problems of common man. But, so far no specific performance has been witnessed.
