The Lahore High Court has summoned the record of proceedings of a case against Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq before an anti-terrorism court where he was declared a proclaimed offender. The court was hearing an appeal of prosecution department against the trial court's order of declaring the minister as such. Deputy Prosecutor General Khurram Khan told the court on Monday that the minister and others had staged a rally and held a meeting at the Lohari Gate in 2004 when the Sharif brothers returned from exile.
The prosecutor said the minister had never appeared in trial court and defended him, saying he was booked on political grounds and involved in terrorism.
