NLC ready to assist Army, NDMA

In the wake of severe earthquake, National Logistics Cell (NLC) has mobilized its assets to assist Pakistan Army and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in rescue and rehabilitation efforts. According to a press release, NLC's spokesman said that being Pakistan's premier logistics and construction organization, NLC puts its resources at the disposal of rescue and relief agencies to fully focus on its core function as crisis management an arm of the government.
NLC has set up crisis centre at Headquarters level to monitor the logistics requirements in earthquake affected areas and coordinate with relevant departments to help them in transportation of relief goods and other necessary supplies. Besides mobilizing fleet of heavy vehicles, engineers assets including construction machinery and plant will also be made available to the government departments wherever required rescue in the disaster-hit areas. First consignment of relief goods containing 15,000 blankets, 5,000 tents and 3,000 plastic sheets loaded on 10 NLC vehicles left for Jalozai Camp for onward distribution in the quake-hit areas.-PR
