The formation of Regional Committees by the Federal Board of Revenue to establish liaison between the traders and the tax collectors is surely a confidence building measure. These thoughts were shared by prominent trade representatives in a meeting, chaired by Waqar Ahmad, Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue at Regional Tax Office, Lahore on Tuesday.
Business leaders from Lahore, Sheikhupura and Kasur who attended the meeting, included Mohammad Naeem Mir, Sheikh Mohammad Asif, Chaudhry Mehboob Sirke, Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, Muhammad Ashraf Bhatti, Amir Asghar Dar, Muhammad Idrees, Syed Mohammad Azeem Saithi, Rana Shahbaz Ahmad Khan, Babar Ismail Butt, Sheikh Irfan, Waqar Ahmad Mian, Safdar Ali Butt, Tahir Mehmood Bhatti, Sh. Mohammad Naeem Badsha, Captain Agha Adnan Khan, Malik Farooq Hafeez, Khadim Hussain, Sheikh Muhammad Sajid, Muhammad Ali Mian, Nasir Saeed and Arshad Iqbal.
The traders unanimously hailed the current government policy and FBR in taking the initiative to facilitate the tax payers, broaden the tax net and enhance revenue. While proposals and concerns were voiced individually by the participants, the Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, Regional Tax Office, Lahore assured the business representatives of optimum co-operation from the Tax Department. Conduct of periodic meetings at regional level was supported by the trade representatives to develop trust between the taxpayers and the tax collectors. The Chief Commissioner thanked the trade representatives for their valuable suggestions.
