Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has formally launched the Insaf Food Security Programme through the Provincial Agriculture Department. Under the programme, farmers all over the province would be given authenticated seed of wheat free of cost on which the government would incur an expenditure of one billion rupees.
The Insaf Food Security Programme span over a period of three years. As many as 10,68000 farmers would benefit from the scheme. Farmers possessing land from one to three acres would be given 50 Kg authenticated seed of wheat free of cost. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Provincial Agriculture Minister Ikramullah Gandapur said that Insaf Food Security Programme was a land mark achievement of the government, which would benefit not only the farmers but also enhance wheat production upto 1,86000 tons. And the Provincial Revenue would increase upto five billion rupees.
Gandapur said that the provincial government has devised such a useful programme for promotion of agriculture sector in the province that would fulfill the food requirements of the province as well as go a long way in promotion and prosperity of farmers of the province.
Gandapur, Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering, Shah Farman and MPA Arbab Jehandad Khan, on this occasion announced to give their one month's salary to the earthquake victims. Prominent among others present on this occasion included Special Assistants to CM Qalandar Lodhi, Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Mohibullah Khan and MPA Shaukat Yousafzai.
