Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) on Wednesday submitted a calling attention notice in the National Assembly regarding sewerage treatment plants installed in the federal capital with a hefty sum of more than Rs 2 billion. According to the calling attention notice, "We the undersigned invite the attention of minister for cabinet division towards the improper and below par functioning of the sewerage treatment plant installed in the federal capital causing grave concern among the public."
It said, "The treatment plant which was constructed with a hefty sum of more than two billion aimed at providing clean water to more than 25 sectors of Islamabad including public parks, grounds, green belts and agriculture land is failing in serving the desired purpose."
It added, "The incompetence of the responsible authority to efficiently run the project is not only costing millions of rupees to the national exchequer on monthly basis but also a source of distress for the residents of Islamabad as this will result in health hazards, scarcity of clean water and pollution. This is a very serious matter and needs immediate attention of the house."
