Senator Aitzaz Ahsan has said the national exchequer was insecure in the hands of present rulers. He has further posed the question that how a person paying income tax worth a few hundred can be the richest one in a short span of time. He was talking to media while casting his vote for the elections of Supreme Court Bar Association on Thursday.
He said the cost of Nandipur power project has been escalated to Rs 80 billion because big projects bring big kickbacks for the rulers. "Similar is the case of LNG terminal and metro bus project," he added. He said the solar power project was generating merely 12 megawatt. He claimed that only one party was being held liable to accountability while no one is ready to investigate that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was paying merely Rs 477 as income tax during 1994 to 1996.
He has urged the NAB and FIA to look into this matter as well. On the local bodies' elections, he said the candidates were not facilitated with enough time to launch canvassing but still these elections should take place in the larger interest of the people of Pakistan.
