Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that the provincial government would ensure uninterrupted provision of funds for relief and rehabilitation operations in the earthquake-affected areas. Briefing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his visit to Kohistan, he said that all the deputy commissioners had already been authorised to use the power of the CM in their respective areas in utilisation of funds for relief and rehabilitation activities.
The KP CM lauded the Prime Minister's special directives to relevant quarters for rehabilitation of quake-affected people and compensation package and expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on his visit to earthquake damaged areas of the KP.
He said Kohistan district was the most affected area of the province where earthquake claimed 12 lives and caused huge losses to drinking water schemes, communication network and infrastructure. He further said that the KP government had already constituted teams to assess the losses, adding that district administration had also been directed to restore the road links to the affected areas while no excuse of lack of funds and non-availability of heavy machinery would be accepted in this regard. He said that Pak Army was assisting the district administrations to make access possible to far-flung and unapproachable areas for the distribution of relief goods, tents, blankets, edible items and medicines among quake-hit people.
