All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) Chairman Tariq Saud Thursday appreciated Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Advisor to the Prime Minister on Revenue, Haroon Akhtar Khan on having given a patient hearing to APTMA regarding difficulties being faced by the textile sector against the backdrop of declining export numbers and high cost of doing business.
He appreciated the decision taken by the Minister for Finance to levy 10 percent regulatory duty on textile imports from other countries and allowing LTFF facility to ginning and spinning industry also. Chairman APTMA expressed the hope for a continued contact and liaison with the relevant ministries to resolve the pending issues on a positive note.
He said that he was very hopeful that in the next meeting to be held soon matters of Gas Infrastructure Development Cess, different surcharges on electricity, expeditious refund of sales tax and other levies as per the textile policy would be resolved in the best interest of textile industry.
