Chinese delegation meets Shahbaz: Speedy implementation of CPEC projects stressed

A high-level delegation of working group led by special representative of Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Liu Guangyan met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, here on Friday. Matters of mutual interest, promotion of bilateral relations and projects under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) were discussed on the occasion. It was also decided in the meeting to ensure speedy implementation of CPEC projects. Ambassador Liu Guangyan also conveyed a special message of Chinese Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to the Chief Minister Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that investment by China in Pakistan under China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a great gift and 18 crore people of the country cannot forget this historic economic package given by Chinese President and Prime Minister and the government.
He said that work has been started expeditiously on the projects under CPEC in Punjab and other cities of Pakistan. Shahbaz said that he personally monitors the progress on CPEC projects. He said that a conducive and safe atmosphere has been provided to Chinese investors and Punjab government has taken special measures in this regard.
The Chief Minister said that CPEC projects are a milestone in the stability of economy and provision of job opportunities to the masses. He said that CPEC projects are a game changer in removing the shortage of electricity. He said that every effort will be made for the implementation of CPEC projects and provision of a conducive atmosphere to Chinese investors.
Referring to the challenge of terrorism being faced by the country, Shahbaz Sharif said that war against terrorism is for the survival of Pakistan and the whole nation is determined to root out the menace of terrorism. He said that more than 50,000 Pakistanis have been martyred in the war against terrorism. He said that officers and jawans of Pak-Army, police and people from all walks of life have rendered unprecedented sacrifices in this war.
Expressing his views on the occasion, head of the delegation Ambassador Liu Guangyan said that Chinese Prime Minister acknowledges untiring efforts and extraordinary abilities of Chief Minister Punjab and calls him a man of action. He said that Chinese Foreign Minister has also sent a message of good wishes for the Chief Minister and wants to see him at the earliest.
Liu Guangyan said that Chief Minister Punjab has taken effective steps for providing safe and conducive atmosphere to Chinese investors in the province. He assured that the work on CPEC projects will be carried out jointly and completed with high quality and speed.
Chinese Consul General in Lahore Yu Born and senior officials of various ministries of China were also included in the delegation. Kh. Ahmed Hasaan, Inspector General Police, Secretary Home, Additional Chief Secretary Energy, Secretary Energy and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
