Pakistan Japan Business Forum (PJBF) and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in collaboration with Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) held a "Pakistan Japan Textile Exporting Workshop" in Karachi. Companies engaged in exporting of textile products from Pakistan attended the workshop which was addressed by Yasuhiro Shoda of The Japan Textiles Importers Association and HisaoNishiyama of QTEC, Textile Testing Centre.
Kalim Farooqui, Vice Chairman of PJBF while welcoming the participants stressed upon the need for understanding the requirements of the Japanese Importers and for which the workshop was arranged. Hideaki Shimizu, JICA expert at TDAP explained that the workshop will concentrate on two important aspects of textile manufacturing, specially related to value added products ie reducing costs & optimising production and quality assurance before exporting. The two experts will stress upon these important aspects to the Pakistani exporters to concentrate when considering exports to Japan.
S.M Muneer, Chairman, Trade Development Authorityof Pakistan elaborated upon the efforts of the government to facilitate textile exporters and offered all support by TDAP when it comes to exports to Japan as it is a major market for textile products and Pakistan needs to improve its share of the Japanese market which imports 90% of its requirements.
This can only be achieved with better quality at competitive rates and was thankful to PJBF for arranging such a workshop to make the Pakistani exporters aware of the expectations of the Japanese market.
Abdul Karim Memon, Director, TDAP delivered his vote of thanks to the participants and while appreciating the collaboration between PJBF and JICA to arrange such workshops stressed upon the need to understand the requirements specific to each country and specially Japan which he has visited earlier this year to facilitate the interaction between the business community of Pakistan and Japan.
