Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Food, Qalandar Lodhi has said that wheat quota policy will be reviewed to increase the quota of flour mills. He gave this assurance while talking to a delegation of Pakistan Flour Mills Association, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (PFMA) KP, Malik Iftikhar Ahmad Awan here Friday. The delegation was comprised of senior vice chairman, Haji Musarrat Shah, vice chairman, Malakand Division, Haji Sartaj Ali Khan, vice chairman, Hazara, Nadir Khan, vice chairman Mardan Mohammad Ali Hamza and executive members Haji Mohammad Tariq, Haji Yousaf Afridi and former chairman, Mohammad Anis Ashraf.
The delegation of PFMA briefed the provincial minister regarding difficulties faced by the flour mills industry due to high price of wheat quota and requested the increase in the quota and fixing at rate of Rs 1280/- per ton otherwise increase in flour price will multiplied the problems of people.
They told that the province is required 4.2 million ton per to meet demand while the provincial government is providing only 0.45 million ton to flour mill industry.
The provincial minister assured the resolution of the problem of industry and said that the resolution of the problems of flour mills industry atop the priorities of the government. He said that wheat quota policy will be reviewed to increase wheat quota of flour mills.
