The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources has reconstituted Board of Management (BoM) of Pakistan State Oil (PSO), which was dissolved following petrol crisis in January, 2015. Well-placed sources in the Ministry of Petroleum told Business Recorder here on Monday that a summary was sent to the Prime Minister (PM) office in September 2015 in this respect, and after the approval of the summary, the Ministry has issued a notification in this connection.
Sources said that the Prime Minister office has approved following officials as the members BoM of PSO: Additional Secretary Petroleum, Managing Director (MD) Imran-ul-Haq Shiekh PSO, Dr Mussadiq Malik, Secretary Planning and Development, Director General Oil Ministry of Petroleum, Additional Secretary Ministry of Finance, and MD Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) Zahid Mir.
However, the officials said that in previous BoM of PSO, DG Oil Petroleum Ministry was not included but now the government has included his name in the BoM as he was one of the most senior officials of the Petroleum Ministry dealing with the imports, exports, price calculation and other relevant developments in Board of Management. This is the second BoM of PSO constituted by the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) government and this time around the government has included all the relevant officials dealing with oil import in the list.
According to officials, the decision of the Ministry would have a positive impact on the matters related to petroleum product import, supply and demand situation as the DG Oil plays a key role in making all decisions regarding the demand and supply of the petroleum products.
