The spokesman for SNGPL while commenting on the proceedings of National Assembly standing committee meeting held on 02-11-2015 as reported in a section of national press, has clarified that SNGPL and the management are fully and whole-heartedly committed to discharging their obligations in most efficient and transparent manner at all times.
"It has been further clarified that MD SNGPL had repeatedly tried to contact Bilal Ahmad Virk, Chairman, National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum through telephone however, the honourable chairman of Standing Committee was not available at that time. Consequently, MD SNGPL contacted Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad requesting for exemption to attend the November 2, 2015 meeting as certain critical banking documents in respect of the LNG project had to be executed the very same day, which otherwise could have resulted in delay of supply of LNG to the consumers. The honourable Minister of State also conveyed the same to Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum.
"SNGPL Management has always remained committed to expeditiously disposing of matters pertaining to Honourable Members of the Standing Committee while remaining within the ambit of policy, regulatory and legal framework prescribed by the Government. SNGPL expects that its performance will be judged accordingly. It was clarified that provision of gas to various scheme is not decided upon by the SNGPL. It is also pertinent to mention that the Honourable Minister for Petroleum & Natural Resources has always fully supported the gas Companies while his statement in respect of the said Committee meeting has been wrongly presented at certain forums," the clarification conluded.-PR
