Bullish sentiments dominated on the Lahore Stock Exchange on Friday and the equities registered gains following buyers' interest ahead of the weekend. The LSE-25 index gained 37.92 points to 5705.29 against 5667.37 of Thursday while transaction volume declined from the day earlier volume of 423,900 shares to 364,000 shares.
The market opened on a positive sign and witnessed sharp rise because of the buyers' interest in Lalpir Power, Sui Southern, Hascol Petroleum, Byco Petroleum, Pace Pakistan, PIA, Dewan Farooq Motors, K-Electric, Adamjee Insurance and Pervez Ahmed Securitas. However, Descon Chemicals, Dewan Cement, Power Cement, PTCL, Bank of Punjab, Dewan Salman and Silk Bank remained under selling pressure due to profit taking. The advancing stocks were ahead of the declining ones, as of 66 companies, 10 registered gains, seven suffered losses, while 49 companies stayed glued to their previous closing.
Lalpir Power gained Rs 1.47, Sui Southern and Hascol Petroleum were up by 90-paisa and 60-paisa, respectively. However, Descon Chemicals lost 43-paisa while Dewan Cement was down by 15-paisa. K-Electric with trading of 127,000 shares topped the volume leaders followed by Pace Pakistan with 61,000 shares.
