07 Nov, 2015

Islamabad Bar Association Friday passed a resolution urging Chief Justice of Pakistan to take action against corrupt judges of the subordinate judiciary of the federal capital. The resolution states that a number of judges of subordinate judiciary are corrupt, and requested Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali as well as the Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Mohammad Anwar Khan Kasi to constitute a committee to address allegations of corruption against the subordinate judiciary.
Zahid Mehmood Raja, President Islamabad Bar Association said corrupt judges of the subordinate judiciary bring 3 to 4 lawyers who act as touts for judges and get undue relief in court cases. Raja said the lawyers would start a massive protest if the demand of the association against corrupt judges is not met. Some lawyers opposed the resolution and demanded a system of accountability of judges to be activated instead of passing resolutions.
