National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) and Mobilink on Friday signed an agreement under which the later would provide its telecommunication services and products to the customers of the Corporation. The agreement was signed by Major Asim Jillani (Retd), DG (Operations) NTC and Aamir Ibrahim, CCO & Deputy CEO Mobilink on behalf of their respective organisations. Viqar Rashid Khan, Chairman NTC and Jeffrey Hedberg, President & CEO Mobilink witnessed the signing ceremony.
Under the agreement, Mobilink will extend its GSM services and provide mobile handsets to NTC at discounted rates for onward provision to different government departments and officials. Addressing on the occasion, Jeffrey Hedberg said Mobilink had always assisted the government to its best capacity. "This deal allows us to extend our state-of-the-art services, at affordable rates, to various governmental employees and organisations," said CEO, adding the partnership with NTC was certainly in line with the company commitment to that country. He further said Mobilink would continue serving Pakistan to the best of its abilities.
Viqar Rashid Khan said that since NTC inception in 1996, it had continued to provide the most innovative ICT services to all governmental wings. "We, in part, also owe our success to the private sector operators like Mobilink, because we always look to partner up with these telcos to enhance our capabilities and facilitate our customer base at affordable rates," he added.
Chairman NTC further said the new world was about disruptive technologies and innovations while new business models are sprouting to create more intelligent and networked societies. Rashid Khan said NTC had been created and given official mandate to provide ICT services to armed forces, defence projects, federal government, provincial government or such other government agencies or governmental institutions as the federal government might determine. He further added that after signing the agreement NTC would be able to provide GSM/3G and other allied services to government departments as per their demands and requirements.
