Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati) President Zahid Saeed has urged the government to treat all export-oriented sectors equally and provide them facilities without any discrimination. He was of the view that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) had announced one percent reduction in the export refinance rate for textile industry only, which amounted to decimate other export sectors of the country.
Saeed pointed out that all export-oriented industries were demanding similar facilities and concessions which were denied. He said that due to increase in the prices of raw material, besides gas and electricity rates, the industries as a whole facing difficult times. He added that Pakistani products were losing their place in the global market just because of the high cost of doing business.
He reminded that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had in September assured full support to all export sectors of the country. He said it was for the first time that the SBP had given relief to only one sector, while neglecting others. The Kati President observed that treating all industries on equal basis was the way to strengthen the country's exports.
