Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday approved the recommendations of the disciplinary committee which was tasked to look into the conduct of some party members during the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government elections.
Acting on the recommendations, Imran expelled MPA Amjad Afridi from the party for his conduct in the LG polls, which led to the defeat of a PTI candidate. In addition, MNA Shehryar Afridi and MPA Ziaullah Bangash have been reprimanded for "acting irresponsibly" in the LG elections.
Moreover, Senator Azam Swati has been barred from playing any role in the party affairs in Mansehra in future due to his "failure to protect the interests of the party".
Another Peshawar-based MPA Arif Bangash has also been reprimanded for his conduct.
"MPA Yasir Khalil acted in a very irresponsible manner and prevented PTI counsellors from casting their votes. It has been decided to bar him from holding any position in the party or government," a PTI statement said.
