The repair and renovation work of Iqbal Manzil-the birthplace of Allama Muhammad Iqbal- is in full swing and most the work had already been accomplished on second story of this historic building. Official sources told Business Recorder on Sunday that Punjab Archaeology department had aside Rs 1.37 crore for the repair and renovation work of Iqbal Manzil (Sialkot) the birthplace of poet philosopher Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
Under the programme special attention has been focused on maintaining originality of Iqbal Manzil aimed at protecting it from further damage caused by the poor sewerage system of the locality. Special steps had also been taken for the preservation of articles of daily use including holder, ink-pot and huqqa etc belonging to great philosopher and poet Allama Iqbal in showcases to keep these valuable relics out of reach of the visitors.
In order to provide more facilities to the visitors at this historic house a library and a reading room had been established and furnished with a large number of books mainly on Iqbal besides the works of Allama Iqbal as well as collection of Holy Quran its translation and commentaries, Hadis, history and philosophy etc.
Similarly, efforts were being made for setting up "Museum" at Iqbal Manzil for displaying different articles belonging to Allama Iqbal and rare photographs and books written by various authors on Iqbal would displayed to facilitate the visitors and scholars from home and abroad.
