Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Sindh for Religious Affairs and Auqaf Senator, Dr Abdul Qayoom Soomro, has said the federal government had not released Rs 12 billion it had committed to the ongoing Karachi Operation. In a statement issued here on Monday, he stated that PML-N had always created obstacles in development projects of Sindh Province and added that Sindh would have been able to produce electricity for the whole country had the hurdles in the Keti Bander and Thar projects were not created by the PML-N regime.
He said that the federal government led by PPP provided a sovereign guarantee to Sindh Engro power project but now the federal government seems to be reluctant to implement it and owing to this the project of 1200MW project could not be launched. The Special Assistant said the federal government had not devolved education, health, EOBI, Zakat & Ushr, Religious Affairs and other important subjects to provinces as required under the 18th Amendment. While criticising the policies of the incumbent federal government the Special Assistant expressed his reservations over the import of LNG and said the case of Sindh province would be taken up at the meeting of Council of Common Interest.
