In June, Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), a leading global agricultural processor and ingredients provider, invited 32 solvent oil industry customers from Pakistan to visit the company's fully owned export facility at the Romanian Port of Constanta on the Black Sea.
Pakistani demand for canola and sunflower seeds has nearly doubled over the last decade. During that time, ADM has supplied an increasing number of customers in Pakistan with high-quality raw materials grown in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as South America, Canada and Australia. With ADM's acquisition this year of an export facility at the Port of Constanta, the company further strengthened its origination capabilities in the region and its ability to serve global markets.
"As ADM connects crops with global markets, we are committed to an integrated supply chain that is handled efficiently and effectively," said Felix Mueller, senior manager, Global Oilseed Trade. "By bringing a large group of our customers from Pakistan to our facility in Romania, we were able to show them not only where their products come from, but also the vast extent of our global network and transportation capabilities."
For the occasion, ADM teams from Romania and Switzerland also met with the delegation to discuss market trends and logistical requirements in order to better understand their needs.
"Our philosophy is to connect the harvest to the home by linking local crops with global markets," said Marco Wahler, head of ADM Balkans. "For this event, we linked the global market - our valued customers from Pakistan- with our local capabilities at origin, allowing us to better meet their needs going forward."
