Educational programmes promoted national unity: Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Punjab government has provided funds of billions of rupees for ensuring quality health and educational facilities to the masses. Special attention is being paid to the promotion of quality education and improvement of public health facilities.
Talking to elected representatives, here on Friday, the CM said the revolutionary steps taken by the government in education sector for the empowerment of youth are yielding positive results. Education is the key to success and funds provided for promotion of education are not expenditure but a useful investment in the future of the country. He said a comprehensive programme has been started for the improvement of health facilities in the province.
Sharif said the development of education and health sectors is the priority of the government and all out resources are being utilised for this purpose. Reforms of revolutionary nature have been introduced for strengthening of education and health sectors; availability of basic amenities is being ensured in schools under Schools Reforms Programme.
He said measures are also being adopted for ensuring attendance of teachers and students, the youth are a precious asset and the goals of progress and development of the country can be achieved through imparting them modern education He said Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF), Daanish school system, provision of scholarships to talented boy and girl students, educational programmes of Punjab Education Foundation and the study tours of position-holders to foreign educational institutions are revolutionary measures of Punjab government and are leaving a positive impact on education sector.
He said an important feature of education programme of Punjab government is that besides Punjab, the students of Sindh, Balochistan, KPK, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, FATA and Federal Board have also been included in these programmes which are resulting in promotion of brotherhood and unity in the country.
He said talented boy and girl students of the poorest of the poor families are benefiting from PEEF and Daanish school system. More than one lakh boy and girl students are studying in local and foreign educational institutions with the help of PEEF. The CM further said that education as well as health sector is also among the top priority of the government and all out resources are being utilised for providing quality healthcare facilities to the masses at their doorstep, hospitals equipped with modern facilities are being set up in the province.
He said health facilities are being improved in THQs and DHQs hospitals and rural and basic health centres. Similarly, he said, work is being carried out speedily on the project of state-of-the-art Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute and Research Centre in the provincial metropolis.
The elected representatives paid rich tributes to the Chief Minister for the measures taken for provision of basic facilities to the masses and said that people of the province are fully benefiting from mega projects of Punjab government. They said Shahbaz Sharif has taken unprecedented steps for the uplift of health and education sectors, due to transparency and merit policy of the government, the performance of departments is improving.
